What you'll learn

Five core areas, theory and supervised practice.

No death by PowerPoint. Two days that balance theory with supervised hands-on practice, the tips and tricks we've picked up over years in the clinic, the questions you'll actually face on your first day, and, honestly, more fun than you'd expect.

Certificate of Safe Practice on completion
01

Ear anatomy and physiology for safe practice

Otoscopy, contraindications, and when to refer. The clinical foundations every safe practitioner needs before they touch a probe.

02

Professional microsuction and irrigation techniques

Microscope setup, suction control, instrument handling, pressure, temperature, positioning. Two days of supervised technique drills.

03

Equipment operation and maintenance protocols

Setup, calibration, decontamination, single-use protocols. Looking after the kit so the kit looks after you.

04

Patient assessment and aftercare

Taking a history, documenting findings, gaining informed consent, and the aftercare advice that prevents the call back.

05

Business setup, marketing, and growth

Insurance, pricing, room setup, payment, Google reviews, partnerships with local pharmacies and GPs. How we filled our diary and how you'll fill yours.

Course + equipment

Two ways to start.
One of them gets you practising on Monday.

Sourcing equipment is the bit that delays most new practitioners by six months. Skip it: leave the course with a clinical-grade kit you've already trained on.

Lesley Waterfield, training lead
Your trainers

Led by Lesley. Taught by all three of us.

Lesley runs our training programme, years teaching paramedics gave her the patience for it. Debbie's in the room with her, and Paul handles the equipment side. With three of us on hand for a small cohort, you'll always have help when you need it, and you'll be learning from people who still practise in our Rugeley clinic every week.

  • NHS-trained clinician
  • Background teaching paramedics
  • Still practising in our Rugeley clinic
What graduates say

Two days that pay back for years.

Course graduates and clinic patients leave their reviews in the same place on Google. Here are a few from the people who took the course.

The team at UK Microsuction are amazing. Their training was professional, informative and empowering. I left the course feeling like I had learned what I needed to start my own business and be a safe and effective practitioner.
