UK Microsuction
Our services

What an appointment with us actually looks like.

Most people who arrive at our clinic have never had their ears properly cleaned before. They're usually a bit nervous and a bit impatient. This is what the next thirty minutes will look like, before, during and after.

Step 01 · 5 mins

A quick history.

We sit down with you, ask how long you've been struggling, whether you've had any infections or surgery, and what you've already tried. Five minutes of context that saves an hour of guesswork.

Step 02 · 5 mins

A proper look.

Video otoscope first, so we can see what we're working with and so can you, on a monitor right in front of you. If your eardrum looks angry or there's a problem we shouldn't be treating, we'll say so and tell you where to go next.

Step 03 · 15 mins

The actual removal.

Microsuction by default. Irrigation or manual instruments when they're the better tool for the job. We use whichever method, or combination, gets the wax out safely. The price is the same either way.

Step 04 · 5 mins

Aftercare and proof.

A second video tour of the now-clean canals, aftercare advice, and a quick conversation about how often you'll need this.

The methods, properly explained

Three techniques. We use whichever your ears actually need.

No upselling, no preferences. We pick the method that's safest and most effective for the wax in your ear today. Often that means using more than one.

Method 01

Microsuction

Surgical loupes and a fine suction probe. We can see exactly what we're doing and lift wax out cleanly without it having to soften or break down on the way.

Method 02

Irrigation

A controlled volume of warm water from a pulsed-impulse machine. Gentler than the old syringe technique, and more effective for wax that's softened up well in advance.

Method 03

Manual removal

Specialist instruments, used under direct vision, for the wax the other methods can't quite get. Jobson Horne, alligator forceps, ear specula. Old-school and reliable.

Simple, honest pricing

One price. Whatever your ears need.

No tier system, no add-on charges, no surprises at the till. £65 covers an appointment for one ear or both, using whatever combination of methods is right for you. If we examine your ears and there's nothing to remove, you pay only the consultation fee.

Who we see

Most people who book with us have one of these stories.

  • “My hearing's gone muffled.”Most appointments. The wax has built up, often over months or years.
  • “My hearing aids keep whistling.”Wax pushed by hearing aids is the most common cause of feedback. We see these patients every week.
  • “The GP told me to come privately.”NHS ear wax removal is largely unavailable now. We see a lot of people sent our way by their surgery.
  • “I swim, dive or wear earphones a lot.”Anyone whose ears get a lot of stimulation tends to need clearing more often than they expect.
When we'll say no

Cases we don't treat.

If any of these apply, we'll see you, examine you, and refer you on. You won't pay for the appointment beyond the £25 consultation, and we'll point you in the right direction.

  • Active ear infection or discharge
  • Known perforated eardrum or grommets
  • Ear surgery within the last three months
  • Sudden hearing loss in the past week (see a GP urgently)
  • Children under five (your GP is the right first stop)

“Excellent service. Debbie was very kind and gentle with my mum. She can now hear us, there was a lot of wax in both ears.”
